First and foremost, our Trust’s vision is that ALL children should receive the best social, moral and academic education to support them in achieving their very best. We endeavour to support all communities, schools, staff and pupils in achieving their best whilst recognising and working with the uniqueness of each one. In achieving this Thurcroft Junior Academy and the ACET inclusion team work collaboratively with families and professionals to achieve the best outcomes for all the pupils. Our inclusive provision includes an integrated resource (IR) known as the Aviary, situated within the mainstream site at Thurcroft Junior Academy.

The heart of the Aviary is the ethos in which everyone is valued and nurtured; is expected to progress to become an independent learner and fulfil their potential through personal and academic attainment and achievement. Our belief is that an exceptional education for all is rich and empowering beyond the confines of statutory assessments and national benchmarks. The Aviary shares a passion for life-long development of social skills to enable pupils to access a broad and balanced curriculum and live a full life in which they are confident valued members of society leaving us well prepared for their next stage in education and beyond.

The IR at Thurcroft Junior Academy is a ten place Key Stage 2 specialist resource co-located within the mainstream site. The IR provides integrated and bespoke provision for pupils who have an Education and Health Care Plan, have a recognised need of communication and interaction and who are capable of accessing aspects of a mainstream academic curriculum.

Admission to the Integrated Resource at Thurcroft Junior Academy is agreed through consultation with the academy through the Rotherham Local Authority’s Special Educational Needs and Assessment Team.
