Safeguarding

'All adults in school have a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.'

Safeguarding children is a priority for the academy. We have clear aims, policies and procedures to keep children safe.  Our Safeguarding Policy complies with South Yorkshire Local Safeguarding Children Boards Child Protection Procedures.

Please click on the link below for our safeguarding policy.

The procedures place a statutory duty on Thurcroft Junior Academy and adults in school to safeguard and promote the welfare of children with due consideration to equality.

Our systems are designed to do the following:

  • Prevent unsuitable people from working with children and young people
  • Promote safe practice and challenge poor and unsafe practice
  • Identify instances in which there are grounds for concern about a child's welfare and give adults in school the route for them to take the appropriate action.

All members of staff have read the statutory documentation from DFE 'Keeping children safe in education' (Part 1 and annex A) and receive safeguarding training regularly. Records of this staff training are held within the academy's single central record.

If you have any concerns about the safeguarding of a young person please contact one of the following:

The recruitment of staff to the academy is carried out with due regard to the statutory documentation from the DFE 'Keeping children safe in education'  a copy of which can be viewed below.
